WATER CoRe

WATER CoRe: Water scarcity and droughts; coordinated actions in European regions. WATER CoRe intends to provide an exchange platform for water scarcity and drought issues on regional and local level for all European regions.

Water Scarcity and Drought, increasingly caused by climate change effects, will affect the European Union on ecological, on economic as well as a on social issues. These impacts will affect the citizens of the European Union in particular on local and regional level. Strategies on regional policy level are required, in order to mitigate these climate change effects.

Kick-off conference

 

Last 26th and 27th April, the International Centre for Water and Environment –CIAMA-La Alfranca hosts the official launch of the INTERREG IVC WATER CoRe project “Water scarcity and droughts: coordinated actions in European regions”. 14 partners from 7 European regions participate in this project: Hesse (Germany), Aragon (Spain), Emilia-Romagna (Italy), Lower Tisza (Hungary), Covasna (Romania), North Brabant (the Netherlands) and Hérault (France).

Regional Opening session

After the official launch of WaterCoRe project in a successful meeting hold last 26th-27th April 2010 in Zaragoza (Aragon, Spain), 6 partner regions will present the project in several opening sessions in their own cities in May, June and July.

Second Meeting of Working Groups

The 14 partners involved in the project will contribute with their experiences on water demand, drought management, climate change impacts and public participation within 4 Working Groups consist of technical experts from 7 European regions. These experiences will be collected in a "Handbook of Best Practices" and will be presented at the next meeting of the Working Groups to be held in October in Hungary.
